The Education Above All (EAA) Foundation and the Ministry of Youth and Sports have marked United Nations International Youth Day with a youth-focused public activation under the theme “From Learning to Leading: Empowering Youth.” Staged at Place Vendome, the activation runs until Aug. 16.
The activation traces the different stages of youth empowerment — from access to education and skills development through advocacy, volunteering, employment pathways, and leadership — and reflects a shared commitment by both partners to helping young people become active contributors to national and global development.
Three interactive installations
Youth Empowerment Unlocked maps the pathways through which EAA and the Ministry of Youth and Sports support young people, spanning access to education, employability, volunteering, and advocacy.
Youth Calling invites visitors to listen to recorded messages from EAA beneficiaries, Youth Advocates, and Qatar’s UN Youth Delegates, who describe in their own voices how education and meaningful opportunities have shaped their lives.
Threads of Change lets visitors share their interests, priorities, and preferred ways of taking part, while opening pathways to register for future youth opportunities.
Young people as partners
Alya Fakhroo, Head of Advocacy at the EAA Foundation, said the activation is designed to recognize young people as more than beneficiaries:
“This International Youth Day, we are creating a space where young people are recognized … as advocates, contributors and partners in shaping what comes next. Their voices and lived experiences must remain at the heart of the opportunities we build with them.”
Fawaz Al Messaifri, Director of the Youth Affairs Department at the Ministry of Sports and Youth, said the event underscores the value of national partnerships:
“International Youth Day provides an important opportunity to reaffirm the importance of investing in young people … placing young people at the heart of the experience, enabling them to express their aspirations and explore opportunities in education, professional development, volunteering, and community engagement.”
The event is supported by EAA’s strategic partner, the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), and staged in cooperation with Place Vendome Mall, offering an interactive platform that promotes youth participation as active partners and leaders of change.
